March 2022 will place Serbia and its capital on the world sports map through organisation of two big athletics events. Through Serbian beauty, the Arena, planetary aces of “the queen of sport”, records-holders, gold Olympics medallists, in short the cream of the sport which is the starting point and foundation for all other sports, will parade.

The World Athletics Indoor Championships (18 – 20 March 2022) will, at the Arena, hatch new champions but also a multitude of tears both the ones which show sorrow for missed chances and the happy tears for the achieved results and sports dreams.

The overture to this planetary gathering, only 11 days before the first competitions within WC start, will be “Belgrade Indoor Meeting” which will host the world athletics stars at the athletics field of play in the Arena. It will be the ideal chance for the athletes, competitors of the World Championships, to feel the Arena, track, atmosphere, to check their capacities and find in what psychological and physical state and with what expectations they welcome the most significant indoor competition in the last four years.

The latest World Indoor Championships was held in 2018 in Birmingham. After it was finished, there has been a long break caused by the corona virus pandemics, which paralyzed the whole Earth. The wish of athletes who will arrive here from all sides of the meridians with a common goal, and that is to come back home decorated with a medal, has because of that become even stronger and steadier than ever before because many of them wanted to give up active competitions in 2020, which stayed lost for many sports and sportspersons. The World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, for many tough athletics aces will be the place where they will, with a medal, record, great result, personal best or tears, say good-bye forever to the profession which coloured their lives and which will always remain the biggest stamp on their paths.

Belgrade will be the only city in the world to have the privilege of seeing some of these aces of the “queen of sport” twice being the best versions of themselves and perhaps even being the best version of themselves at their last public competition within only two weeks.

The Olympic Games Champion in pole vault, Armand Duplantis, and the best Serbian athlete, the World Champion in long jump, Ivana Spanovic Vuleta who will defend gold won four years ago in Great Britain at the WC 2022 have already confirmed taking part at the seventh athletics Meeting in our capital on 7 March 2022.

After the sixth athletics Meeting in Belgrade in 2020 got the bronze status on the World Meeting Series list, this year, under the new name and new silver status, it will have golden shine which will, with its names having the historic results in this sport, pave the planetary athletics stars.
